World U19 - Sportsplex, Pierrefonds

There is a “World U19” camp this weekend at the Sportsplex in Pierrefonds. All games will be played using the International format. Each game will include the following.

Ottawa Tournament

NDG had five teams at the Ottawa Tournament (Feb 17-19). It was a fantastic weekend and CONGRATULATIONS to our girls who played their hearts out AND did themselves and their coaches proud! The Atom B team won their group, as did the Benji B's. The Benji C team brought home a silver medal and the Novice B's put in a heroic performance against all odds as they were playing a level up.

The Regionals were played the weekend of the 38th - 29th of January and our girls put in a solid performance all around. Gongrats to our Novice B, and Benji B and C teams who won their groups!

If you use a smartphone such as a Blackberry, an iPhone or Android device we have available a file containing all the arena addresses (v-cards). Once imported into your device you can tap on the address and it should open in Google maps. Send an email to the webmaster@ndgringuette.org and you will receive the file in return. Tap on the attachment and the addresses will be imported into your address book. If you use a GPS Navigation App such as Navigon or TomTom you will be able to pull up up the addresses from within the app. The list of addresses include some of the Ottawa arenas as well as the Ottawa Travelodge Hotel.

If you are an iPhone user you can access your daughter's schedule quickly by creating a 'web app'. This is effectively a shortcut saved to your home screen. To create a web app takes all of 1 minute and requires no technical know-how. Here's how:
Official Start of 2011/2012 Season

The official start of the 2011 / 2012 season is on October 21st. At that point all the teams and their respective league levels will have been finalized. Part of the pre-season purpose is to ensure that all the teams within a given level are more or less competitive. If a team is too weak or too strong during the pre-season it may need to move up or down a level.

How Long is your stick?

Every season the question of 'stick length' comes up. Here is the official rule from Ringette Canada:
The maximum length of the Ringette stick depends upon the height of the player. Measured while the player is standing on skates with the arm extended at 90o to the body, the maximum length of the stick is from the ice to the height of the underarm.

As parents we are probably all scurrying around looking for equipment that we pray will fit for another season. Well, it probably won't so here we go - the annual equipment hustle has officially started. Any equipment that you don't want to exchange at the store when you buy a larger model, or hand in to the NDG equipment room can be listed here.
